Highlights:

  • The aging Dodge Charger managed to score an unexpected sales rise in the first half of the year, driven by a 21% sales rise in the second quarter of the year, meaning the model now accounts for more than a third of sales in the segment
  • The second-placed model, Chevy Impala, sold barely over half of the segment leader, but least managed to lose just 3% of its sales compared to the first half of 2018
  • The same could not be said of the rest of the models in the segment, all of which lost at least 20% of their sales, with the biggest disappointments probably coming from the newly-facelifted Nissan Maxima (sales down 30%), the new Toyota Avalon (sales down by almost a quarter), and the recently-replaced Buick LaCrosse (sales down by half)
