Lexus Sales Data & Trends for the U.S Automotive Market

Lexus had been the best selling premium brand in the United States for 11 consecutive years until 2011 when BMW and Mercedes-Benz overtook the Japanese brand. In 2015 Lexus was briefly back in the race, thanks to the introduction of the NX compact crossover, but the Germans once again pulled ahead. Lexus has also switched from its somewhat bland styling to a bold fascia, called spindle grille, and which hasn’t been received with unanimous praise from the press and public, but which also doesn’t seem to hurt its sales.

Currently all of Lexus’s models for the US market are imported from Japan, with the exception of the RX, which is also produced in Cambridge, Ontario for North America, and the ES which is produced in Georgetown, Kentucky. The RX midsized crossover is Lexus’s best selling model in the United States, while the ES midsized car is the most popular sedan in the line-up.
