Hummer Sales Data & Trends for the U.S Automotive Market

Hummer was one of the victims of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, as General Motors killed the legendary SUV brand in 2010. Originally, the brand had started with the civilian version of the AM General Humvee military vehicle, called the Hummer H1.

GM later added the more civilized but still enormous H2, and the smaller H3 SUV. Due to their size and fuel consumption, Hummer vehicles were frequently targeted as anti-social by environmentalists and the image of the brand started to suffer. When fuel prices and public resistance rose and sales dropped accordingly, and General Motors was also going through bankruptcy, the company was under pressure to shut the brand down.

Hummer produced all of its SUVs for the US market in North America. The Hummer H3, its smallest truck, was the brand’s best selling model in the United States.
