Data & Charts for Total Lotus Brand Sales in the United States

Lotus Sales Data & Trends for the U.S Automotive Market

Lotus, the British brand known for its lightweight, fun-to-drive sports cars has always remained a small player in the United States, where “bigger is always better”. The brand’s core values appeal only to a limited group of enthusiasts in North America, and it’s almost hard to understand why Lotus keeps investing in getting its vehicles homologated for the US market.

Lotus imports all of its cars for the US market from its factory in Hethel, UK.

*Lotus US sales are estimates.

Unfortunately, Lotus does not specify its US sales by model. The brand’s line-up in 2015 consists of the Elise, Exige and Evora. Use the dropdown at the top right of this page to find sales figures any other car model sold in the US since the early 2000’s.

  1. Those of us that are not of the obese, bigger is better mentality, understand the true zen of the best handling vehicles built anywhere. Secondly, the total lack of creativity in the Porsche lineup for the past 50 years barring a few tries drives some of us to the Lotus as a FAR more visually appealing choice. The uniqueness of the Elise, Exige and Evora models put them in far more rarified air than their pricetags suggest.

  2. The Lotus is the best handling car on the consumer market, perhaps the best looking. The problem is for whatever reason, the cars that end up in the US don’t work. I bought one that didn’t make it home from the dealer and it was a constant trouble until I was able to unload it. We’ve all heard the stories. Trust me, they’re true. No matter how much you’re enticed by the looks, the sound, the feel, just don’t do it. I don’t know if the European market cars are as bad. I guess that on a $100K car there is enough margin to make it worthwhile to sell 300 or so.
