The midsized passenger van segment in Europe is down by a quarter in the first three months of 2020 to 39,000 sales, which is almost three times the sales of large MPVs. The Volkswagen Transporter T6 and its luxury derivative Multivan lose share with sales down 37% but stays just ahead of the combination of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Vito Tourer, which total 10,523 sales, down 12%. The Renault Trafic Passenger doubles its sales, but because Opel/Vauxhall no longer makes the Vivaro clone of the Trafic and the other clones Fiat Talento and Nissan NV300 remain niche players, the combined sales of these models (5,157, down 21%) lose ground to the segment’s best performers, the PSA-Toyota quadruplets. These are down 11% to 8,874 sales of which the Toyota Proace Verso is the best seller, followed by the Opel/Vauxhall Zafira Life, the Peugeot Traveller and finally the Citroën Spacetourer.
