Data & Charts for Total Renault Brand Sales in China

China-auto-sales-statistics-Renault-logoRenault Sales Data & Trends for the Chinese Automotive Market

China auto sales statistics for Renault only include the models that are locally produced in China through the Dongfeng-Renault Joint Venture with local manufacturing partner Dongfeng Motor, and excludes import models.

After importing low volumes of the first generation Renault Koleos crossover and Fluence and Latitude sedans from South-Korea and the first generation Renault Captur from France, Renault got serious about the Chinese car market when it opened a new factory with its partner Dongfeng (which also has JVs with Renault’s alliance partner Nissan, but also with its rival PSA Peugeot-Citroën) in 2016 with an annual capacity of 300.000 units.

The first model produced in this factory was the Kadjar, and the second was the second generation Koleos, a larger crossover, followed by the second generation Captur compact crossover and the City KZ-E small crossover EV.

  1. April 2016 sales is incorrect, should be 2,002. Makes me question legitimacy of all other sales data on this site.

  2. Hi George,
thanks for your comment. Can you supply a source for your data of 2.002 units?

There could be two reasons for the difference between the data:
    1) the Chinese car sales data as reported by Left-Lane.com are only for locally produced models, as mentioned below the table. That means the 1.641 sales are only for the Kadjar and exclude the Captur, Koleos, Fluence and Latitude, which are imported to China.
    2) the data above is supplied by the CAAM, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and consists of wholesale figures. Some manufacturers report retail figures in their press releases, which could also lead to a slight discrepancy from one month to the other when using different sources.
In order to allow for reliable comparison between brands and model and from one month or year to the other, we choose to use a single data source for all data.
I hope this clarifies any confusion you may have about the data.

  3. Looks like Kadjar isn’t trully a success story. I wonder why. Maybe Renault is to little known as a brand in China?

  4. Bonjour,

Et les chiffres de ventes des anciens modèles comme ESPACE, MEGANE, LATITUDE, LAGUNA, TRAFIC, SCENIC, FLUENCE, TALISMAN ?
