Maxus is a commercial vehicle brand of SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation), which bought the rights to the LDV Maxus commercial van when this British company went bankrupt in 2010. SAIC also produces and markets cars under the MG and Roewe brands and has manufacturing Joint Ventures with General Motors, Iveco and Volkswagen to produce cars under the Baojun, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Wuling, Iveco, Skoda and Volkswagen brands.

Surprisingly, Maxus launched its first passenger car in 2017: the D90 large SUV, followed by the G50 MPV in 2018 and the D60 SUV in 2019.
