The Full-size Cargo Van segment grew steadily in Q3 2015, with sales growing by 11% compared to the same period last year, slightly faster than they did in the first half of the year.
Highlights:
- The Ford Transit continues to be the standout success in the segment, although the extent of its dominance seems to have shrunk a bit – in the first half of the year it outsold the 2nd-placed model by more than 2-to-1, while over Q1-Q3 the ratio fell below that
- The “old guard” models (Chevy Express, Ford E-Series, GMC Savana) keep losing customers quickly, and unless GM comes with a new model soon the Express may be outsold by both the MB Sprinter and Ram Promaster by mid-2016
- The Ram Promaster (currently 5th) actually outsold the MB Sprinter (currently 4th) in Q3 2015 – with barely over 1,000 units between them, it’ll be interesting to see which one ends the year on top
