Highlights for Q1-Q3 2016:

  • Things are very close at the top: Lexus NX leapt from third in the standings at the end of Q2 to the top spot in the standings following a strong 25 percent growth in sales in Q3, relegating Acura RDX to second and Mercedes-Benz GLC to third spot
  • Audi Q5 continued to bring in customers remarkably well for a model whose replacement is about to go on sale any month now, while the aging BMW X3 did even better, by increasing its sales almost 50 percent compared to this time last year
  • The model handover is continuing apace, with YTD sales for Cadillac XT5 catching up to those for its Cadillac SRX predecessor; their sales combined, the two models would easily claim the top spot in the standings
  • The remarkable sales performance of the updated Infiniti QX50 continued, albeit it was overtaken in the standings by the Porsche Macan, whose sales keep rising steadily
  • Sales of Land-Rover Discovery Sport continue to disappoint, with the sales growth in Q3 falling to just 36 percent, good only for twelth in the rankings; moreoever, the model is clearly hurting sales of its older, but more profitable sibling, Range Rover Evoque
  • Jaguar F-Pace, on the other hand, keeps rising nicely in the standings, overtaking BMW X4 in the YTD sales, and selling almost as many units as Infiniti QX50 in the third quarter
