The Tayron X is produced in China by the SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture, together with the regular VW Tayron crossover. The Tayron X has the same engines as its sibling: a 1.4-liter turbo with 150hp and a 2-liter turbo with 180hp or optionally 220hp. Dimensions are 4.626/1.860/1.662mm with a wheelbase of 2.730mm.

Prices range from 236.000 yuan (€28.700,- / US$  33,700) to 296.000 yuan (€36.000,- / US$  42,300). That puts it in a bit of a lonely position, as it’s much more expensive than domestic brand crossover coupes like the Changan CS85 Coupe (119.900-169.900 yuan), Dongfeng Fengguang ix5 (99.800-149.800 yuan), Geely Xingyue (135.800-195.800 yuan) and Haval F7x (119.900-154.900 yuan), as only the upscale Lynk & Co 05 (175.800-235.800 yuan) comes near. On the other hand the, Tayron X is a lot cheaper than luxury crossover coupes, the inventors of the segment which are imported into China, like the BMW X4 (455.900-585.900 yuan) and Mercedes GLC Coupe (458.800-598.800 yuan), let alone the larger BMW X6 (766.900-936.900 yuan).

Car sales statistics from China only include domestic production and exclude imported models.
