RAM Sales Data & Trends for the U.S Automotive Market

RAM is a brand spun off from Dodge in 2009 to sell commercial vehicles for what was then the Chrysler group (now Fiat-Chrysler). It was a decision that surprised many, given that Dodge was a brand in large part defined by its RAM pickup truck (RAM being the model name), and given that the likes of Mercedes-Benz, VW, Renault, Fiat and others have for decades successfully sold commercial vehicles under the same brand as their passenger cars. Nonetheless, the brand has managed to quickly establish a foothold, building on the strength of the RAM name, a newly-competitive large pickup model and a couple of new small and large cargo vans sourced from Fiat’s European arm.

The pickup still accounts for more than 90% of the brands’ sales, though that is partly driven by that model’s staggering growth in recent years – its sales tripled between 2009 and 2018 and reached record sales again in 2019, even surpassing the Chevrolet Silverado for the #2 spot in overall US sales.

Please note: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles stopped reporting monthly US sales figures in Q3 of 2019 and switched to reporting its US sales quarterly. From Q3 of 2019 onwards you will find Q1 data in the March data field, Q2 data in June, Q3 data in September and Q4 data in December.
