Italy Automotive Sales Data & Trends

Italy-car-sales-statistics

Here you will find annual car sales figures for Italy. These statistics are Total Market Volumes, which include passenger cars as well as light commercial vehicles (LCVs).

Since the late 1990s, the Italian car market has fluctuated between 1.4 million and 2.8 million sales, peaking in 2007 at over 2.7 million units, before starting a 6-year long decline, including double digit losses in 2008, 2011 and 2012, to its lowest volume in modern history in the aftermath of the global financial crisis. In 2015 and 2016 the market recovered sharply with double digit increases, followed by a still healthy growth of nearly 7% in 2017, but remains far below pre-crisis volumes. LCV sales typically make up around 8% of total car sales in Italy.
